What Biology Paper 1 exam questions look like

The live AQA GCSE Biology Paper 1 exam is a 100-mark mixed paper lasting 1 hour 45 minutes, and it is 50% of the GCSE. It is not a 100-question multiple-choice paper. Our practice tests use four-option MCQs covering the same Paper 1 topics, with a 50-question mock for each tier.

Choose Foundation (8461/1F, grades 1–5) or Higher (8461/1H, grades 4–9) first. Higher includes HT-only content such as monoclonal antibodies and multi-factor photosynthesis graphs. The same plan also unlocks Paper 2 (topics 4.5–4.7: homeostasis, inheritance and ecology).

  3. Always read the explanation, even when you were right.
  4. When scores are consistently strong, sit a timed 50-question mock.
  5. Repeat with fresh questions so you learn the material rather than one fixed paper.
